About us
The Sustainable People GmbH is a manufacturer of innovative everyday products with environmentally conscious design in the areas of pet supplies, waste disposal and packaging. Together with our customers, we aim to help reduce the environmental impacts associated with the use of plastic.
Our core range includes dog waste bags, cat litter box liners and bin liners made from certified biodegradable or recycled materials. In the B2B sector, our portfolio is complemented by mailing bags and other film products, which we can offer individually according to customer requirements.
Depending on the product, we use OK compost HOME-certified biodegradable materials, bio-based materials or recycled PE. Almost our entire recycled PE range is certified with the Blue Angel.

Our history
As a student, our founder Arne noticed almost 100 dog waste bags lying on the side of the road in 2013 while jogging around Hamburg’s green spaces and canals over a distance of approx. 5 km. Shocked by the sheer number of plastic bags, the desire arose to solve this problem and reduce the negative impact of plastic on the environment. In the same year, Arne developed biodegradable dog waste bags for urban needs together with a Swiss company. This makes him one of the world’s pioneers in this area.
In 2015, Arne started what is probably the largest study to date on the subject of dog waste bags in the environment with the Poop Bag Map. This is an interactive map in which users could enter the places where they found dog waste bags in the environment. With this environmental project, we were able to reach over 7 million contacts through reporting in various media and thus contribute significantly to raising public awareness of the problem.
The vast majority of the bags commonly used are made of conventional plastic (PE virgin granulate). Fatal and much more problematic than with shopping bags: dog owners understandably like to walk their dog in green spaces or by the water – in other words, where it is particularly painful when the bags get into the environment.
In 2016 “The Sustainable People GmbH” was founded. Since then, our young company has developed dynamically. With our biodegradable dog waste bags, we are today the market leader in German urban supplies (as of December 2025). In addition, many of our B2C products are already available in hundreds of shops (stationary / online) and inspire our customers. Regardless of whether municipalities, companies or consumers: we offer suitable solutions for various areas of application in daily life in order to reduce the environmental impact of plastic.

We try to keep the environmental impact of our products as low as possible – with recycled materials and certified compostable materials.
In addition, we are continuously working to reduce the environmental impact of our production, e.g. through the use of renewable energies. A particularly ambitious but equally important element is the increasing processing of residual materials such as CO2, woodcuts, agricultural waste or lignin.
As we understand it, the essence of sustainability is to preserve the natural regenerative capacity of ecosystems. We at The Sustainable People would like to make a contribution together with our customers – today and in the future!
